GuitarFest 2011
5th Annual event welcomes L.A. guitarist Jennifer Batten

Join other music fans at GuitarFest 2011 on Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 10 am to 3 pm. Toledo School for the Arts (TSA) has lined up artists, performers, producers, technicians and songwriters for a day of style and technique workshops and performances.

This year the festival is proud to feature Jennifer Batten, the best female guitarist (according to Guitar Player Magazine’s 2009 Reader’s Poll). Batten’s amazing two-finger ‘shredding’ style helped her prove that a woman could hold her own in the male dominated guitar world. Batten toured with Michael Jackson on three world tours and with Jeff Beck on two world tours. She has released three solo albums, Above, Below and Beyond (1992), Momentum (1997), and Whatever (2008).

TSA’s GuitarFest is a day-long event about all things guitars. In addition to performances by Batten, GuitarFest will feature local artists in clinics, performances, and master classes.

Local, regional and national artists are in the festival line-up. Featured artists include:
• Scott Williams - Durdel’s Music, blues, rock, jazz, and classical instructor
• Jeff Deitsch - SeeAlice, world class bass guitar player
• Jay Weik – Recording Artist and University of Toledo Jazz Guitar Instructor
• Larry Wagner - Master guitar builder
• Ken Zuercher - Hep Cat Revival, jazz, swing and blues guitarist and teacher
• Rockin’ Randy Sobel – East River Drive, Valley Music, rock guitarist and teacher

Classes for all levels of experience will be covered, including rock, blues, jazz, classical, bass, recording and equipment demonstrations and more.

An equipment swap will go during the GuitarFest. Bring your gently used equipment and upgrade during Northwest Ohio’s only music equipment swap meet.

Randy Sobel, who has been the force behind GuitarFest since it started, said: “I love that GuitarFest allows participants of all ages to learn from amazing guitar masters about playing and earning a living from music. It’s thrilling to watch them attempting a new technique, and working at it over and over until they master it. All that from just observing the other musicians sharing what they know.”
