85th Anniversary of Waterville Branch Library
(Released March 9, 2011) – The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is pleased to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Waterville Branch Library, 800 Michigan Ave., Waterville, OH. An open-to-the-public reception and program on the history of the branch is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12.
Serving the residents of southwestern Lucas County, Waterville Branch has been at its present location since 1964, having outgrown classroom space at the local elementary school. After a renovation in 1980, the facility quickly outgrew its space and grew again in 2004. Renamed for long-time librarian and community activist Lois Waffle, Waterville Branch continues to be a viable meeting place for a diverse and growing population.
Program highlights include:
· Historical impersonations by Waterville Historical Society members
· Recorded interview of Lois Waffle, a long-time librarian and community activist in Waterville.
· Historical items/photos display
· Children’s activity
· Cake and refreshments served
