Firefighters Charities Benefit from Blarney Madness Weekend
For Immediate Release – Toledo & Sylvania Firefighters Charities Benefits at The Blarney Madness Weekend 3/17 - 19/2011
(601 Monroe St at Huron Street, Downtown Toledo, Ohio)
St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday, March 17th with The Blarney Irish Pub opening at 8am with The Blarney Bullpen opening at noon for the lunch crowd. Bagpipers and Dancers will appear in the 9am hour. Breakfast is being served all morning. The Blarney Irish Pub encourages all guests to be safe and to travel with a designated driver or use Black & White or any local cab services on this “holiday.”
The Blarney owner, Ed Beczynski continues his annual tradition of donating a portion of the door cover charge to a local charity. The $5 cover charge begins in the morning with proceeds benefiting the Toledo Firefighters Local 62 and the Sylvania Firefighters Local 2243.
Each year the Sylvania Firefighters Local 2243 Charity donates a rough average of about $10,000.00 (ten thousand dollars) to select Charities. They typically include The Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., Aluminum Cans for Burn Children, Firefighters Burn Foundation, Give Autism the Boot, Old Newsboys, and Sylvania Area Family Services (SAFS).
Firefighter charities actively participate not only through financial support, but also distributing Food baskets during the Holidays. In addition to adopting families around Christmas time they participate in "Shop with a Hero," where children shop with a firefighter at a local department store. Donations are also distributed to Fallen/Injured Firefighters, Police Officers, or their families as well. Finally, numerous other requests for individual support are received each year and are handled on a case by case basis.
Friday a portion of the proceeds will benefit our neighbors, another downtown treasure, Imagination Station!
