Each April, Jazz Appreciation Month is celebrated nationally and internationally, and it is the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History which operates the world’s most comprehensive set of jazz programs to honor the month. Jazz is an American musical art form first started in the early 20th century in African American communities in the South. Its influence is based on West African and European traditions. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month.

The Library’s Jazz Jam is generously sponsored by the Professional Musicians of Northwest Ohio, Local 15-286; Friends of the Library, and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
The Library’s JUNIOR Jazz Jam is generously supported and presented by Toledo Public Schools and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
