Co-founder of National Student Program Coming to Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio – On April 6, 2011, the Women’s Initiative of United Way will host Ms. Nínive Calegari – co-founder of 826 Valencia, former CEO of 826 National, educator, author, and filmmaker – at their annual spring event.
826 National is a nonprofit tutoring, writing, and publishing organization with a goal of assisting low-income students with writing skills, as well as helping teachers get their classes excited about writing. Under Ms. Calegari’s leadership, both 826 Valencia and 826 National were the recipients of numerous awards and recognitions.
“We are absolutely thrilled Ms. Calegari has agreed to speak at our event,” said Elizabeth Ruppert, M.D., Honorary Event Chair. “Engaging children in learning through out-of-school programming is critical, and we are confident Ms. Calegari will infuse attendees with her passion and creativity, motivating them to make a difference in their own way.”
The event, presented by Owens Corning, will take place at Owens Corning World Headquarters in downtown Toledo. Networking and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the program at 6:15 p.m. Following the presentation, a book signing and reception will be held from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
