Rally to kick off National Victims Rights Week
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATIONAL VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK
Victim advocates and support groups from various agencies in the greater Toledo area will hold a rally on Monday, April 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Lucas County Courthouse. The groups will meet in front of the President McKinley statue on Adams Street.
To celebrate National Victims’ Rights Week (April 10-16), the rally is planned to inspire victims of all crimes, from homicide to rape and domestic violence, especially those who for safety reasons cannot be recognized.
In 1981 President Ronald Reagan instituted National Victims’ Rights Week as an annual observance to bring the victim assistance community together to raise public awareness about victims’ rights and services.
The rally will include information tables, music and speakers from the agencies offering victims’ right services.
In case of inclement weather, the rally will be held in the Lucas County Training Center, 711 Adams Street across from the courthouse.
