Meet Sculptor George Carruth at Artist Signing 4/16/11
Once again, sculptor George Carruth, known for his whimsical works of art, will meet fans and collectors at an artist signing on April 16 2010
Waterville, OH – George Carruth, renowned sculptor, will make a scheduled appearance at Garden Smiles on April 16, 2010 to sign copies of his original pieces, as well as meet and greet his fans and collectors of his art. “People love giving and getting these wonderful sculptures,” said Deb Carruth, owner of Garden Smiles and Carruth Studio. “With Mother’s Day less than a month away, it’s a great opportunity for people not only to get a great gift, but one that is unique and fun.”
The artist signing on April 16, will feature certain designs with a new patina recently introduced by Carruth Studio. According to George Carruth, the new patina highlights the details in each piece. "In the past directional lighting was crucial for detail to "pop", with this new finish the sculpture comes to life in any environment,” he said. “People that have enjoyed the content of my plaques are now blown away as they discover all of the subtle details I include."
Original George Carruth pieces are some of the most sought-after collector’s items in the US, and his works can be found in The National Cathedral in Washington D.C., an ornament for the White House Christmas tree , Home and Garden Television, Botanical Gardens. They are often purchased as gifts (very popular for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and holidays) as expression of sympathy; wedding and anniversary gifts; pet memorials; installations; teacher’s gifts; expressions of thanks; as landscaping accents; as wedding table decorations; corporate gift giving; fundraisers; and as client closing gifts by realtors.
Carruth’s creations are masterpieces of stone and often depict fun and whimsical figures such as nature faces, fairies, animals, gnomes and inspirational items like angels, quotes and families, as well as holiday pieces. His characters, like Earl E. Bird, Miss Lovey Dovey and Bob White, are popular pieces and can be found in gardens from coast to coast; his pieces are collector items, valued for their quality and the obvious care and love Carruth puts in any of his works. Some of his best-selling works, like the Garden Smile Plaque, Sunflower Morning and his handcrafted butterflies never fail to make people smile and are a great addition to any home.
“Ever since the first artist signing back in 1992, we knew we wanted to continue this tradition,” said Deb Carruth, who is George’s wife and business partner. “Meeting fans face to face allows us to really get to know them, as well as get their feedback on the art pieces. We take the time to listen and talk to anyone who has something to say.” Having a piece signed by George Carruth also adds a special touch to each piece, as well as value. All the sculptures are hand-cast and hand-finished, 100% made in the USA and use quality materials.
