Animal Egg Hunt Returns to the Zoo!
Toledo, Ohio—It’s truly a rite of spring as young people wake to discover the treats that the Easter Bunny has left for them. For some of your favorite Toledo Zoo animals, that tradition comes a little early! On the Friday before Easter, April 22, animals throughout the Zoo will take part in their own Animal Egg Hunt as they track down papier-ma?che? eggs and actual hard boiled eggs hidden in their habitats. In addition, the Animal Egg Hunt features a number of story times throughout the day and a craft area in Nature’s Neighborhood. The schedule of events is as follows:

10:15 a.m. Gorillas- Kingdom of the Apes
10:30 a.m. Harvey the Chimp & Orangutans- Kingdom of the Apes
10:45 a.m. Primate Enrichment- Primate Forest
11:00 a.m. Story Time- Aviary Interpretive Center
11:15 a.m. Tortoise Feed- Reptile House
11:45 a.m. Octopus Feed- Aquarium
12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Craft-making Nature’s- Neighborhood
12:15 a.m. Story Time Nature’s- Neighborhood
1:15 p.m. Jenny the Otter- African Savanna
1:30 p.m. Story Time- Great Apes Interpretive Center
1:45 p.m. Meerkats- African Savanna
2:00 p.m. African Wild Dogs- Africa!
Throughout the Day Various Bird Demos- Aviary
The Animal Egg Hunt is more than just fun for visitors—it’s also a great form of enrichment. Through enrichment, we stimulate the animals’ senses and encourage natural behaviors. It’s a key component of their over all well-being.
The Toledo Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo.
