Art Corner Toledo Unveils Mural at Manos Garden

April 19, 2011 – Art Corner Toledo (ACT) unveils its inaugural project in UpTown Toledo on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in a joint event with Toledo Grows. Manos' Garden, located at 1441 Jackson Street, welcomes volunteer gardeners that day to prepare the garden for a prolific planting and gardening season. Snacks and music will keep the volunteers and supporters happy and satisfied while focusing their efforts toward sustainability in Toledo.
Formed in Spring of 2010, ACT is excited to showcase the hard work and dedication of community activists and artists. ACT Project #1 was a partnership between mural artist, Har Simrit Singh, and urban agriculture and sustainability agency, Toledo Grows. The April 30th event will serve as an official "unveiling" of the mural, which was designed by the local artist with the help and input of area movers and shakers. Using vibrant colors and a signature graffiti-esque style, Singh's mural evokes an urgent message of change and community.
"It's in the water in Toledo!" exclaimed ACT founder Rachel Richardson. “We cannot help ourselves but to work to change the world through art and activism. It's what we do here."
With intentions to promote Toledo as a progressive and constantly-evolving city, ACT aims to revitalize the Downtown and UpTown areas by creating works that will become the cornerstones of growth. The inaugural mural project celebration at Manos' Garden is not to be missed, and is a great opportunity to get directly involved with ACT, and learn more about the Har Simrit-Singh and Toledo Grows. With food prepared and generously donated by Glass City Café, there's no better time to see the transformations currently taking place in Toledo.
