Lourdes Announces Kids Summer Camps

Lourdes is pleased to offer three summer camps that are sure to keep school children learning and engaged throughout their summer break:

Science Rocks! Adventures in Science Workshop – June 13 to 16
Lourdes’ Deptartment of Chemistry & Physical Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Biology & Health Sciences and the Department of Art, is hosting – Science Rocks! Adventures in Science – a workshop for students in grades 5 through 7. Budding scientists will learn about a variety of topics including astronomy, environmental science and forensic science and will study the connection between art and science. Master of Education Reading Camp – Sessions in June and July
The Lourdes’ Master of Education (MEd) program is hosting a set of three reading camps to assist children who are behind in the literacy skills required through Ohio’s academic standards. Led by Director Dr. Michael French and Lourdes Master of Education students, the camps are open to students in grades 1 through 10. The purpose of Lourdes’ reading camp is to assist children who are behind in literacy skills required through Ohio’s academic standards. Instruction at the camp focuses on the major components of reading such as phonemic awareness, word identification and phonics, vocabulary and, comprehension strategies and general motivation.

All camp sessions will be held at the Sylvania Franciscan Academy from 9 to 11:30 a.m. $175 per camper and includes assessment of each student’s literacy skills, 20 hours of one-on-one instruction, a camp t-shirt and backpack. Session 1: June 13-16 and 20-23
Session 2: July 5-8 and 11-14
Session 3: July 18-21 and 25-28

Life Lab Summer Science Camp – Sessions in July and August
Lourdes’ Life Lab is hosting its annual summer science camp for children in grades 5 through 10. This year’s camp is titled “Join a Summer Search for Sustainable Science in Air, Land and Water!” and will focus on Ohio’s living environment, with an emphasis on sustaining our quality of air, land and water resources. Camp will include field trip to Olander Park.

Session A: July 11-15
Session B: July 18-22
Session C: July 25-29
Session D: August 1-5
