Youth Orchestra from Böblingen, Germany Performs July 12

The Albert Einstein Youth Orchestra of Böblingen, Germany will visit Toledo from July 12 - July 16 as part of the Blue Lake International Exchange Program headquartered in Twin Lake, Michigan.

Members of the 63 piece symphony orchestra will stay in private homes while visiting Toledo, according to Sophia Schmitz, 17, Chairman of the committee that is making the arrangements for the group's visit.

While in Toledo, the Albert Einstein Youth Orchestra from Böblingen will perform one concert. The concert will be held on Tuesday, July 12 starting at 7:00 P.M. at Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Drive Toledo, Ohio. The concert is free and open to the public.

Blue Lake's International Exchange Program began in 1969 when a 90-voice choir toured England, Belgium and Germany.

Since then over 10,000 high school musicians wearing Blue Lake uniforms have visited 650 communities in England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Hungary, and Liechtenstein.

In return nearly 10,000 members of 500 European and Japanese bands, orchestras, choirs, and dance groups have come to perform in communities throughout the the Midwest.

While touring Europe, Blue Lake groups stay in private homes with host families and the foreign groups do the same when visiting the U.S.

Nearly 1,000 talented young American and European musicians are expected to participate in the 45th annual Blue Lake International Exchange Program during 2011 according to Mrs. Gretchen Stansell, Director of the International Exchange Program.
