The Blue House “Adoption” Committee will begin accepting applications August 1 and close the submission process in September.
The Vistula Historic Foundation, formed by residents in Toledo’s oldest neighborhood, is excited at the prospect of preserving the historic architecturally significant house at 1017 N. Superior and attracting new neighbors to the neighborhood.
Built in 1900, the Blue House is one of the David Holman dwellings. Once a beautiful cross gable Dutch colonial style, the home still boasts 5,051 square feet of living space not including the basement and a wood dormer window treatment on the third floor. The house was once occupied by a physician and also housed his thriving medical practice.
The Vistula Historic Foundation and many residents in the community share a passion for preserving historic architectural treasures Toledo’s neighborhoods. The Foundation would love to see this structure and others attract more good citizens to the already interesting eclectic mix now inhabiting Toledo’s first neighborhood. A committee has been formed to review applications for consideration.
Anyone interested in inquiring about “The Blue House” or others in the neighborhood may contact Richard Cattran, President of the Foundation, at 419-389-3452.
