Call for Artist-Designed Bike Racks

Posted: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 by: Dan Hernandez | Category: Arts and Entertainment

DESCRIPTION
Artist designed bike racks have appeared throughout the country and are particularly popular in areas that want to exhibit their support for the arts while encouraging bicycle traffic. The Arts Commission seeks to develop a series of these bike racks that can accommodate two bicycles each (similar to the traditional “U” shaped racks) and that will represent Toledo’s unique aesthetic and cultural identity. Designs are now being accepted for this project and all artists working in OHIO and MICHIGAN (see ELIGIBILITY for specific counties) are encouraged to participate. Winning designs will be professionally fabricated by a local fabricator and installed in Toledo’s UpTown District.

HONORARIUM
Winning entries will receive a $500 honorarium.

ELIGIBLE COUNTIES
Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot counties in Ohio, and Lenawee and Monroe counties in Michigan
