ACGT Announces Toledo Potters' Guild 60th Anniversary
Earth, Wheel, and Fire: the Toledo Potters’ Guild 60th Anniversary Exhibition will take place at the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo’s Parkwood Gallery. The exhibition, juried by John Leyland of the University of Michigan Ceramics Department,runs from October 5-November 18, 2011.
The Toledo Potters' Guild was founded in 1951 by the late Jo Ann Cousino and Edith Franklin, honorary chair of this event. Though not its original location, the Guild has the distinction of being the oldest Resident Organization at the Toledo Botanical Garden.
The nearly 70 members create a wide variety of work. Some work may be functional, nonfunctional, wheel thrown, or hand-built. Members' work has appeared in national, regional, and local exhibitions and galleries.
An opening reception will rake place Thursday, October 6 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at the Parkwood Gallery, 1838 Parkwood Ave., Suite 120, which is located across the street from the Toledo Museum of Art’s Glass Pavilion.
The Parkwood Gallery is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 am – 4:30pm and is located at 1838 Parkwood Avenue, Suite 120 off of Monroe Street in Downtown Toledo.
