MUSIC 4 MORE CONCERT TOUR WITH HEADLINER “THE ALTERNATE ROUTES” TO STOP IN
TOLEDO, OH AT FRANKIE’S ON NOV. 1, 2011
Event aims to raise money and collect instruments for under-funded school music programs
BALTIMORE - (Sept. 10, 2011) – Music 4 More, a charity organization that supports deteriorating music programs in schools and communities across the United States, is proud to announce a Toledo, OH performance during its fall fundraising concert tour featuring the popular Connecticut-based band, The Alternate Routes. The event will take place on Nov. 1, 2011 at Frankie’s Inner City, and will also include co-headliners Red Wanting Blue. Tickets can be purchased at music4more.org or at Frankie’s Inner City. Proceeds from the concert will go directly to Music 4 More, and patrons can bring new or used instruments to the concert for the charity to refurbish and distribute to schools in need. Instrument donations are tax-deductible.
“We’re thrilled to announce this exciting stop on our tour, and couldn’t be happier with our headliner, The Alternate Routes, who draw big crowds wherever they go,” says Deidra Stevens, founder and president of Music 4 More and alumnus of the University of Toledo. “With 14 dates on the schedule, stopping in the city of my alma-mater was a no-brainer. I love that we are able to come back to Toledo and do something to benefit the area.”
After two critically acclaimed albums on Vanguard Records, an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and performances with Johnny Lang, O.A.R., Squeeze, Marc Broussard, Live and Brandi Carlile, The Alternate Routes have independently released the new album Lately. Now in the final days of their summer tour, The Alternate Routes are ready for cooler weather and a fall concert series dedicated to such a worthy cause. “We can’t wait to hit the road with Music 4 More and help supports kids and music education,” says cofounder Tim Warren (vocals, acoustic guitar). “We recently put out our best record yet. We’re doing better than we ever have, and we can’t wait to share it with new audiences in new places – and hopefully see some old friends along the way, too.”

ABOUT THE ALTERNATE ROUTES
The Alternate Routes’ name suits them well. Without a definitive genre to reference or an established scene to rally behind them, they are something of a rogue wave in an ocean of bands. They’ve built a fan base the old-fashioned way: driving around the country in a big, white Ford Econoline van and winning over crowds with solid, catchy songs and an explosive live show. Since their genesis in 2004, co-founders Tim Warren (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Eric Donnelly (lead guitar) have taken their group through the dizzying heights and frustrating lows of the modern music industry, and have learned some valuable lessons along the way.
The culmination of all these experiences to date is a new record, “Lately,” which exemplifies the fresh focus and attitude of a band that knows who they are and what they want. Produced by Teddy Morgan at Barrio East in Nashville, TN, the Routes’ updated sound is more spontaneous and raw than what we’ve heard from them in the past, but retains the melody, depth and power of their previous efforts. This less-glossy version of the band is more true to the no-holds-barred, uplifting live show that put them on the map in the first place.
