Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Appearance Canceled
(Released October 5, 2011) – Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and the Director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University, has canceled his Authors! Authors! appearance, originally scheduled for Thursday, October 20, due to temporary illness. The Library will make all attempts to reschedule Dr. Gates at a later date.
Dr. Gates is also Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford African American Studies Center, the first comprehensive scholarly online resource in the field of African American Studies and Africana Studies. He is co-editor with K. Anthony Appiah of the encyclopedia Encarta Africana, and in book form under the title Africana: The Encyclopedia of the African and African American Experience. Oxford University Press published an expanded five-volume edition of the encyclopedia in 2005. TICKET Exchange/Refund Process:
All purchased tickets for Dr. Gates can be used for another Authors! Authors! appearance for the remaining 2011 Fall series or pending Spring 2012 series.
If a ticket purchaser requests a refund, they must leave their name and address and their original Dr. Gates ticket, with a library branch official (i.e. manager). The ticket purchaser’s money will be refunded.
