SPEAK OUT! Kicks Off on Oct. 20th with Soraya Mire

Each month’s SPEAK OUT! gives women Survivors and Co-Survivors: opportunity to voice their incest, child sexual abuse and rape experiences in an affirming environment, learn about the “Keys to Happiness”, meet other women who understand, reinvent their lives.
The Kick Off SPEAK OUT! on October 20th at 6:30pm will feature award winning author Soraya Mire. Soraya is the author of The Girl With Three Legs where she reveals what it means to grow up in a traditional Somali family where girls' and women's basic human rights are violated on a daily basis through the use of female genital mutilation. Despite the horror she experienced, her words resonate with hope, humanity, and dignity. Her life story is one of inspiration and redemption.
Ms. Mire is a recipient of the UN's Humanitarian Award, an award winning documentary filmmaker, and has appeared in the "Vagina Monologues" in London, NYC and LA. She's been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and articles about her have appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Essence Magazine.
All are welcome to meet with Ms. Mire. The SPEAK OUT! is exclusively for women.
