Humane Society Receives 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator
The Toledo Area Humane Society has once again received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, an independent nation-wide organization that evaluates the financial health, accountability and transparency of charities throughout the country.
The Toledo Area Humane Society is one of only three charities in the Toledo area to receive a 4-star rating. The 4-star rating, the highest rating a charity is able to receive, indicates an “Exceptional” rating for an organization that “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause. Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that the Toledo Area Humane Society adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.”

The Toledo Area Humane Society is the area’s largest and oldest animal welfare organization, founded in 1884. TAHS has held a 4-star Charity Navigator rating for the last two years. The Toledo Area Humane Society does not receive any funds from the government or the United Way. In addition to earned revenue, donations from local individuals, corporations and monies generated by fundraisers are a key source of funding for the Toledo Area Humane Society.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Toledo Area Humane Society is committed to the welfare of animals not only by providing temporary shelter and care while seeking permanent homes, but through humane education programs, animal advocacy, and cruelty prevention and awareness.
