"One World, Many Stories" at Holland Branch Library
(Released October 21, 2011) – Children and families are invited to join the Holland Branch Library, Springfield Schools Parent Diversity Council, and the Friends of the Library for One World, Many Stories! for a series of FREE and open to the public programs now through April 2012!
Children and their families are invited to join us as we present unique activities designed to introduce a variety of cultures and their traditions through demonstrations and hands-on learning activities. Our first activity kicked off last week titled Set the Table where we tried out some unique foods, practiced table setting traditions and more!
Each program will open with a story followed by a number of activities presented by Springfield families, including experiencing unique foods; trying on traditional clothing; learning words in various languages; listening to music; making simple crafts, and exploring a variety of activities to introduce them to our diverse community. All programs are held on Saturdays from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Holland Branch Library, 1032 South McCord Road.
· Saturday, NOVEMBER 12 – Home Sweet Home: Learn about different kinds of homes, the places people live and more!
· Saturday, JANUARY 14, 2012 – Put it On: Hands-on learning about the hats, shoes and clothing of many cultures!
· Saturday, FEBRUARY 11, 2012 – I Am Me: Many activities will help us to learn about and appreciate our uniqueness!
· Saturday, MARCH 10, 2012 – Celebrate!: Enjoy the music, dance and traditions of various cultures!
· Saturday, APRIL 14, 2012 – Growing Together: Plant the seeds of friendship in this program all about making new friends!
This is a collaborative program between the Holland Branch Library and the Springfield Schools Parent Diversity Council.
Programs are jointly funded by the Friends of the Library, Holland Branch and the Springfield Schools Parent Diversity Council.
