Sponsorship of this event is provided by PRIZM general funds, Buckeye CableSystem, and The Toledo Community Foundation as part of PRIZM’s Building a Sure Foundation Grant. The Careers Workshop will be held at Perrysburg High School Campus at 13385 Roachton Rd. in Perrysburg, on Saturday Nov. 5th, from 1-5 p.m., and is FREE and open to the public. Participants should enter the Roachton Rd. entrance, park in the East Parking Lot, and enter the school through the East Student Entrance. Teresa Fedor, from the Ohio House of Representatives will introduce participating professionals. Student ambassadors for the day will be Perrysburg High School Art Club directed by counselors Don Griffith, Lynne Barefoot, and Michelle St. John-Brunner.

The full event catalogue for class selection and individual and group registration forms can be viewed on the PRIZM website @ www.myprizm.com. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and must be emailed to [email protected], or mailed to PRIZM @ 26155 Edinborough Cr., Perrysburg, OH 43551. Faculty, Guidance Counselors, and Groups are encouraged to use the Group Registration form to specify the class preferences of each individual attending. It is anticipated that Walk-in Registrations can be accommodated, but priority seating will be given to those who submit by the October 28th, Pre-Registration Deadline.

This year six different occupations will be highlighted by area professionals, and participants will have an opportunity to select three of the six presentations to attend in a round robin fashion. After attending the three lectures, all participants will be treated to a technology demonstration by two PRIZM members who have recently graduated from college. Jake Lee Ziolkowski is a Contract Illustrator and a recent graduate of The Savannah School of Art and Design, while Mercé L. Culp, is a digital artist and designer who graduated from Bowling Green State University. The event will close with food, a chance to network, and wonderful prizes for attendees courtesy of PRIZM, Buckeye CableSystem and Buckeye TeleSystem. Of special interest to attending students will be the chance to win the Abode Creative Suite Software, a Wacom Drawing Tablet, professional portfolios and other desirable gifts. Life-long learners will also be rewarded with a prize drawing and non-PRIZM members will have an opportunity to win a FREE year of membership in PRIZM. Membership affords reduced price educational workshops in the visual and literary arts, access to quality exhibitions, and opportunities for fun and networking.

Artistic Talent enhances our everyday life from product, packaging, and building designs, the entertainment industry, business marketing, information technologies and fine art just to name a few. The workshop will be geared toward high school students exploring career options as well as life-long learners who may want to increase their revenue stream in the creative industries. PRIZM is sponsoring this FREE and open to the public event as a service to the community. It is hoped this Seminar will become a yearly event to explore area resources, different creative occupations, and inspire/ mentor those seeking to supplement or make a living in the Creative Industries. Area institutions of higher learning will supply information for the event highlighting local training and education opportunities.

The following occupations, with presenting professionals will be highlighted at this year’s Seminar. Representing ARTS ADMINISTRATION: will be 3 individuals from the Executive Team of the Toledo Museum of Art, who will each present at one session and give broad exposure to the various occupations employed by museums. Session 1 will feature Carol Bintz, Chief Operating Officer of the TMA, Session 2 will feature Amy Gilman current Associate Director of the TMA, and curator of modern and contemporary art, while session 3 will feature Lawrence Nichols, senior curator at the Toledo Museum of Art; ART EDUCATION: will be represented by Steven T.
