UT alumni groups collecting hats, mittens for children
November has brought with it some cold temperatures and a University of Toledo alumni group is collecting mittens and hats to help area youth through the winter.
The Judith Herb College of Education, Health Science and Human Service Alumni Affiliate is sponsoring its third annual hat and mitten collection drive for area elementary schools throughout the month of November. The UT College of Engineering Alumni Affiliate is assisting with the collection drive.
Donations of mittens and hats in youth and small adult sizes can be dropped off at the Driscoll Alumni Center in Room 2001, from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the month. The Driscoll Alumni Center is located on the Main Campus of The University of Toledo at the intersection of Bancroft Street and University Hills Boulevard.
School supplies, such as pencils, pens, paper, hand sanitizer and tissues, also will be accepted and used to help students succeed during the remainder of the school year.
“The JHCOEHSHS Alumni Affiliate is excited to again partner with the Engineering Alumni Affiliate. We know that the more hands involved, the more hands and heads will be covered," said Stacey Scharf, co-president of the JHCOEHSHS Alumni Affiliate.
All donations will go to the students of area elementary schools. For more information visit www.toledoalumni.org or call 419.530.2586.
