Toledo Walleye To Host Teddy Bear Toss on Friday
The Toledo Walleye have announced that the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” event will take place at the Walleye game versus Greenville this Friday, December 2 at the Huntington Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The team is asking fans to bring a new teddy bear (or stuffed animal) to the game and throw it on the ice after the Walleye score their first goal. All bears will be gathered and donated to Lucas County Children’s Services and distributed to local children. Since the inception of this program in 2003, over 7,000 bears have been donated to children of Northwest Ohio.
Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) will take the bears and deliver them to other kids who need them. Julie Malkin, the Public Information Officer at LCCS, stated, “The timing of the promotion is great for us as it comes right before the holiday season. At-risk kids who are eligible to participate in our Holiday Gift Drive receive three gifts for the holidays and one of them is almost always a stuffed animal. Many of those bears come from the bear toss.”
Bears will also be available for purchase in the Swamp Shop, the Tackle Box and from roaming vendors the night of the game at the Huntington Center.
The Teddy Bear Toss is presented by BCSN and Buckeye CableSystem!
Fans can call (419) 725-9255 or visit www.toledowalleye.com to purchase tickets for the game.
