Woofers’s Delight, a locally owned natural pet food and treat shop, is holding a special promotion this week in hopes of raising extra money to donate to the Toledo Area Humane Society. From Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18, 20% of all sales will be donated to the Toledo Area Humane Society to help in their mission of preventing animal cruelty and finding forever homes for homeless animals.

“We are trying a different approach to bring awareness of animals in need, especially during upcoming the winter months,” said Sheri Schmuann, owner of Woofer’s Delight. “For me, this is an awesome way to give back to the community where there is a great need.”

“We are very thankful to Woofer’s Delight for thinking of us this time of year and for offering to donate a portion of her proceeds from this weekends sales to help TAHS,” said John Dinon, Executive Director of TAHS. “During the coldest months of winter, we generally see an increased number of cruelty calls about animals being left outside in harsh winter conditions. We also see an increased number of stray cats surrendered to the shelter by good Samaritans who do not like seeing the cats out in the cold. We appreciate partners and donors who have the best interest of the animals in mind and want to help us build awareness for animal welfare and raise money to support our mission.” Similar events, such as “Zumba for a Cause” hosted by Ann-Marie Searle in mid-November, have also helped TAHS raise awareness and bring in monetary and item donations for the shelter.

Woofer’s Delight is located at 7430 W. Central Ave in Toledo and items for this weekend’s special promotion can be purchased at their store as well as the kiosk at Westfield Franklin Park Mall.

The Toledo Area Humane Society is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am – 6pm. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization they are committed to the welfare of animals by providing temporary shelter and care while seeking permanent homes. Donations from local individuals, corporations and monies generated by fundraisers are a major source of funding for the Toledo Area Humane Society.
