Toledo Museum of Art Seeks New Docents for 2012

Posted: Wednesday, December 21, 2011 by: Michelle Harvey | Category: Arts and Entertainment

The Toledo Museum of Art will soon be recruiting and training for its next class of art Docents. Interviews will be held during spring 2012, and training will begin in the fall.
Docents are trained Museum volunteers who interact with visitors by providing tours and other collection-focused activities and information. While these “gallery teachers” come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions, all have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with the public.

TMA’s active Docent program is more than 60 years old and has been a model of other programs across the country. The Museum is interested in recruiting a diverse class of participants, so men and women, working professionals and retirees, and people of color are encouraged to apply.

To learn more, attend one of two free information sessions held in the Museum’s Little Theater: Thursday, Jan. 19 from noon to 1:30 p.m., or Friday, Jan. 20 from 6:30–8 p.m. Additional information can be found at toledomuseum.org/about/jobs-volunteer/docents.
