Belly Dance & World Dance Showcase
A Saturday evening performance of “Alf Laila wa Laila: 1001 Nights” will be available to the public, showcasing professional Belly Dance/Middle Eastern Dancers (Leyla, Azziza, Kay Louise, Baraka, Amira Star, Theresa of Jawaahir Dance Company, and more!) from several states, but will also include performances from around the world, such as China, India and Southern Africa (The Chinese Association of Greater Toledo, Aha Dance Company and ALMA Dance, respectively.) Local favorite “global variety show” Leyla & Raq the Casbah will also be performing live music and song from around the world.
Tickets for the show are $20 in advance, and $25 the day of the performance. It will be held in the Ballroom of The Grand Plaza (formerly The Crowne Plaza) in Downtown Toledo, 444 N. Summit Street. Doors open at 7 pm with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and two cash bars. The show will run from 8 to 10 pm, which includes a short intermission. This event also supports Independent Advocates of Toledo, a non-profit organization committed to championing and protecting victims of domestic violence.
