Best known as a Grammy nominated folksinger, Judy Collins is scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. this Thursday, April 5 at the Stranahan Theater for the 2012 Spring Authors! Authors!, presented by The Blade and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. The popular annual series offers the community an exciting lineup of authors for readers of every interest. The Authors! Authors! series is now in its 18th year.

The 2012 Spring series kicked off in March at Main Library with biographer Edmund Morris, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who is most known for his award-winning trilogy of United States President Theodore Roosevelt. The remaining Authors! Authors! lineup, including Collins, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Tickets for all appearances are $10 per person, $8 for students. Tickets are available for purchase now at all Toledo-Lucas County Public Library locations.

In addition to her singing, Collins has also authored several books, including the inspirational memoir Sanity & Grace, on the death of her only son and the healing process following the tragedy. Collins, who founded her own record label, has also written Morning, Noon & Night: Living the Creative Life, an enthralling peek into her creative mind and harnessing the creative process. Last year, she published her memoir Sweet Judy Blue Eyes that Publishers Weekly called “a tremendously valuable chronicle of the early folk music scene.” Collins still plays 80 to 100 music dates a year.

After Collins’ appearance, please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 3 as we bring Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. to Toledo. Dr. Gates is the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University, as well as director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research.
