Owens Presents 'Melodic Expressions'
PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Area residents with a passion and an enjoyment of music are encouraged to join in celebrating the culmination of an academic year’s worth of Department of Fine and Performing Arts education as Owens Community College presents its seventh annual “Melodic Expressions” Spring Concert Series, April 16-29. The Spring Concert Series will showcase the accomplishments of Owens students in a number of performances ranging from vocal to instrumental.
“‘Melodic Expressions’ is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the tremendous accomplishments of our Owens Community College Department of Fine and Performing Arts students,” said Dr. Douglas Mead, Owens Chair of Fine and Performing Arts. “The upcoming concerts and ensembles have been mastered through academic learning within the classroom this past year. Events such as ‘Melodic Expressions’ provide our students with a great venue to display such musical talents in a real world setting.”
All events will occur in the College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the Toledo-area Campus in Perrysburg Township. The schedule of events is as follows:
Monday, April 16
Owens Musical Theatre Preview
Owens students will perform selections from their upcoming student production “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”.

Wednesday, April 18
Owens Voices Concert
The College’s student voices ensemble will present a wide selection of extremely popular rock songs as part of a concert performance.

Wednesday, April 25
Owens Guitar Ensemble
Students from the Owens guitar ensemble class will perform some of their favorite music, showcasing the skills they have acquired through the use of this classic instrument.

Thursday, April 26
Owens Pop Ensemble
Owens student performers within the College’s pop ensemble class will showcase their musical skills during a performance that will highlight an array of genres, including pop, rock and funk, among others.

Friday, April 27
Owens Pop Music Concert
The College’s student voices choir will present a wide selection of extremely popular songs, ranging from musical selections by Michael Jackson to Adele, as part of a concert performance.

Sunday, April 29
Owens Concert Band
Attendees are in for an afternoon of masterful sounds courtesy of Owens’ concert band class. The concert will feature a wide range of musical selections to include patriotic music, Broadway show tunes and marches.
