Broadway Bards Features OWE Author @ The Original Sub Shop

On Saturday, June 16th at 6 PM, local author and poet, Craig A. Combs, will read from his newly published collection of poems, Taking Tea in the Black Rose: Singing Through the Shadows Until We're Dancing in the Light. A native of Flint, Michigan, Craig relocated to Toledo with his family in the early 1990s, where he eventually rented a home in the Old West End until his move to New Orleans in late 1996.

Many of the author's favorite works were crafted while he was living and working in Toledo, and were often directly inspired by his experiences in and around the Northwest Ohio area. Once he returned from South Florida in 2009, Craig set to work editing and organizing his poetry into what would become the most ambitious undertaking of his writing career, a 148-page compilation spanning 25 years of writings and a lifetime of self-discovery. He accomplished all this while facing some of the greatest challenges of his life, which he openly shares during his public readings.

Broadway Bards Poetry Group and The Original Sub Shop are very excited to welcome Craig A. Combs as this month's Featured Reader at their monthly poetry reading, which takes place every third Saturday of the month from 6-8 PM at 402 Broadway in Toledo. Craig's reading will be followed by an open mic segment, where musicians, poets, and spoken word artists of all genres and levels of experience are given five minutes on the mic to use however they choose.
