Spider-Man at 50

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library invites all to celebrate SPIDER-MAN at 50! with local comic book writer and historian Jim Beard scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19 in the McMaster Center at Main Library, 325 Michigan St.

Spider-Man was created by writer-editor Stan Lee (scheduled in Toledo on September 27 at the Stranahan Theater for Authors! Authors!) and writer-artist Steve Ditko and first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962. Published by Marvel Comics, Spider-Man has become one of the most popular comics in history and was ranked third on IGN’s Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time in 2011. IGN is an American global entertainment Web site that focuses on video games, films, music and other media.
