Windsor's Got the Blues! Hot Acts on Cool River Stage!
Forget gas prices. From July 13-15, you can travel from Peterborough to Milwaukee, all the way south to Texas and Argentina via Chicago, and back up north through Nashville and New York to Detroit, without leaving the beautiful Riverfront Festival Plaza in Windsor on the banks of the mighty Detroit River. As the 11th largest blues festival in North America, we’ve put together an eclectic, all-over-the-map line-up that will have you checking your GPS regularly. Gather your friends from near and far and enjoy 3 days of tantalizing blues artists from around the globe.
The festival kicks off with Edgar Winter (Texas), Stacy Mitchhart (Nashville), Sugar Ray & the Bluetones (Boston), and Kid Rock’s favorite band the Howling Diablos (Detroit).
Headlining Saturday night is Alto Reed & the Motor City Allstars (Detroit), with special guest Mark Farner (Flint) doing all his legendary Grand Funk hits. Saturday’s other headliners are Bobby Rush’s Big Band (Louisiana) and Big Brother & the Holding Company, Janis Joplin’s original band (California). Opening the evening on Saturday is Rev. Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys from Milwaukee.
Closing out this year’s festival is The Brooks Family Blues Dynasty. Led by Chicago Blues icon Lonnie Brooks and rounded out by his two sons, Wayne and Ronnie, this true Blues dynasty reflects the evolution of the genre over five decades. Jimmy Bowskill (Peterborough), Mo’ Blues (Argentina), Popa Chubby (New York), and Rev. Robert Sexton’s Allstar Blues Review (back to Detroit) round out the day.
