2nd Annual Fatherhood Walk

Toledo, OH, June 11, 2012 – RESTORE Inc., is hosting Its 2nd Annual Fatherhood Walk. The walk takes place on Saturday, June 16th (10-2:00) on the campus of Central Catholic High School. The walk is part of RESTORE Inc. public awareness campaign to raise awareness of the important roles fathers play in the lives of their children. This year’s theme is “Where Are the Fathers”?
The 2 mile walk through the surrounding neighborhoods will start and end at Central Catholic High School. A rally, Free Family fun & Food will take place immediately following the walk on the lawn of Central Catholic. The President of Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families, Mr. James McDonald will be the events guest speaker. His talk will address the event’s theme, “Where Are the Fathers”? Last year’s event attracted over 200 supporters. This year’s Fatherhood Walk is expecting to double that number. Sponsors include The City of Toledo, McDonalds, Buckeye Cablesystem, Heal The World, The Andersons, LAMAR Advertising, House of Day Funeral Home, Yell & Tell, Air Extreme Ohio Inc., Lucas County Children Services, Lucas County Family and Children First Council, Seaway Market, Lutheran Social Services, Toledo Area Ministries, Mainstreet Ventures, and Ohio Department of Mental Health/University of Toledo
“We want this event to draw attention to the profound role father’s play in the lives of their children. Research confirms that children do better in every measure of development when there is a responsibly involved father in their lives”, said Mark Robinson, Founder…..This is a free community event and we are challenging businesses to form teams and show their support of fathers, father figures, & mentors. Participants can register on line at restorefathers.org or the day of the event, registrations starts at 9:00 am.
R.E.S.T.O.R.E., Inc. was founded in 2006 by Responsible Fatherhood Advocate, Mark Robinson. Mr. Robinson is a Social Worker by profession and currently serving as The Director of Field Education at Lourdes College Department of Social Work. He is currently serving on the Ohio Practitioners Network for Fathers and Families (OPNFF) Board, which is a statewide collaboration that seeks to advance a fatherhood and family agenda at the state and local level.
