Local Favorite Jazz Artist to Perform at Music at the Market
Professional jazz musician Gene Parker of Perrysburg will take center stage Thursday, June 28 at Music at the Market, 7 p.m. at Commodore Square, 140 E. Indiana, Perrysburg. Presented by the Perrysburg Area Arts Council (PAAC) and sponsored by the City of Perrysburg, the show is free and open to the public.
Parker has been making music for more than 40 years. He is a former Bowling Green State University saxophone instructor and previous director of both the University of Toledo Jazz Studies program and Jazz Faculty Ensemble. He also headed the Toledo Jazz Band and Toledo Jazz Society.
Currently Parker leads a Vibe Trio, a Jazz quartet which is part of the Arts in Education program for Toledo Public Schools, and plays with the Parker/Cook Jazz Quintet, and Parker/Wolkins Big Band.
