Area Families Help Strike Out Cancer
On Saturday, June 30, Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio (CCNWO) will host its second annual Bowl-A-Thon. The event will begin at 2 p.m. at The New Glass Bowl Lanes (5133 Telegraph) and will feature local families hitting the lanes to help area families faced with cancer.
The Bowl-A-Thon is an event organized by CCNWO’s Board and Junior Board, local high school students volunteering for the nonprofit. The funds raised will help support CCNWO free programs for local families, including personalized, emotional support for cancer patients; a supply closet; housing and financial planning. It will also help fund developing CCNWO programs specifically for local children because the organization serves all ages of cancer patients.
Victoria Schoen, a member of the CCNWO Junior Board, hopes the event will make a difference in the lives of families and children struggling with cancer. She says, “I have had the opportunity to visit children with cancer and it is their courage and profound strength that is the driving force for this event. Our vision for the Bowl-A-Thon is to educate youth and families, as well as involve them in the fight against cancer. This event is our way of showing our support and love to kids who have been touched by cancer.”

CCNWO is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides personal, hands on support to cancer patients and their families in our community while creating additional needed programs. All proceeds help support the free programs that are offered to those affected by cancer.
