Dragon Boat Festival to be Held at International Park in Downtown Toledo
July 11, 2012
TOLEDO, OH- Partners In Education will be hosting the 11th Annual Dragon Boat Festival Saturday July 21st at International Park in downtown Toledo from 8 AM to 4 PM.
There are 32 teams scheduled to participate in the festival this year. Over 800 volunteers will serve as paddlers, steersman and drummers for the boats. It is expected that over 8,000 people will be in attendance at the festival & races.
The 40ft. long Hong Kong style Dragon Boats, complete with head and tail, will be racing 500 meters up and down the Maumee River.
Each team will participate in three races during the day, with first round times determining the second and championship round placement.
Trophies will be awarded for various categories such as: most organized most team spirit, and best race times.
Festival will include:
a free children's area from 10 am till 3 pm including crafts, inflatables,and other fun activities.
Food vendors will be on site for refreshments.
Free Entertainment between the hours of 11:30 and 2 pm at the gazebo
Partners In Education of Toledo (Partners) is a local nonprofit founded in 1994 to, “enhance student success through community engagement.” Partner’s leverages relationships with business, community based organizations and institutions of higher learning into collaborative activities and volunteer opportunities that positively affect our most important investment: children’s education.
