Zoo Fun Continues Through September

Summer may be coming to an end, but the Toledo Zoo offers a lot of fun all month long. Visit the Zoo’s website, toledozoo.org, for more information about these and other upcoming events.

Senior Discovery Days
Seniors receive free admission each Tuesday, plus free coffee and a mini-muffin each weekday in the Timberline Bakery – and special activities just for our friends age 60 and up.

Fun classes for all ages
From a stroller safari to animal tales, the Zoo offers great animal-themed outings.

Butterfly & Bug Science Festival
Visit Nature’s Neighborhood for a Science Day dedicated to the creatures that crawl, float and flutter! Major sponsor: BP-Husky Refining LLC.

September hours begin
The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends).

Sun., September 9
Day of Honor
To honor those who keep us safe, the Zoo offers free admission to all military personnel, police officers, firefighters and EMTs when they show their badge or professional ID. Presented by Mercy Health Partners.

Grandparents Day
Free admission for all grandparents who visit with their grandchildren. Great activities, too!

I Do at the Zoo Bridal Fair
3 – 7 p.m.
Planning a big day? You want to attend this bridal fair. Separate fee.

Zoo Brew
7 – 11 p.m.
Age 21 & up. Sample domestic and imported beers, snack on tasty appetizers and dig some great live music. Tickets must be purchased in advance; go to toledozoo.org/zoobrew or call 419.385.5721, ext. 3092. Separate fee; Zoo member discount applies.

Senior Safari
Get health screenings, exercise, safety tips and more – plus, seniors (age 60+) get free Zoo admission and parking, along with special seniors-only discounts and more. Visittoledozoo.org/seniors.

Homeschool Day
10 a.m.
Experience what the Zoo can offer to homeschoolers and preview the upcoming homeschool programs.

Garden Tour (Trees and Shrubs)
10:30 a.m.
The Zoo’s gardeners focus on outstanding trees and shrubs during this walking tour. Free with regular Zoo admission; just meet in front of the Conservatory.

Sat., September 29
Tiger cubs’ first birthday
10:30 a.m.
Viktor and Talya turn one roaring year old! Watch them rip into their gifts.

Starting September 4, the Toledo Zoo’s fall hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends). The Zoo is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, please visit toledozoo.org or call 419385.4040. Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of residency is required.
