Want to learn how Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) works with the community to fulfill its mission of preventing child abuse? Attend a community open house the agency is sponsoring on October 2, 2012.

The event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kellermeyer Education Center Lobby between the Jobst and Harris McIntosh Towers on the ProMedica Toledo Hospital Campus, 2142 North Cove Blvd. Parking is free and light refreshments will be served.

Representatives of various departments from within LCCS – Assessment, Family Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Community Development, and others – will explain the many new ways LCCS protects children and promotes families. They will be joined by many of LCCS’ partner agencies, including other county agencies, health care providers, community centers, etc., to provide information about the ways they support LCCS client families.

“LCCS has adopted new practices that have made us a much more ‘family-friendly’ agency, and it’s important that community members have a chance to understand what it means to them and the children in their lives. There have also been changes to state and federal rules about child protection that affect the way we respond to reports of child abuse, and I’m sure many people will find this information helpful,” said Dean Sparks, LCCS Executive Director. LCCS will also provide information about the need for foster and adoptive families in our community.

Registration is not required, but information about the open house is available at 419-213-3253, www.lucaskids.net, the Lucas County Children Services page on Facebook or at [email protected].
