Artist Stephen Bennett, internationally renowned portrait painter, will have his art on display at Maumee Valley’s Wolfe Gallery titled: “Papua New Guinea to Tibet”. It includes portrait paintings from Papua New Guinea, China, Tibet, Mongolia, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
“I have traveled to more than 40 countries in the last 28 years painting portraits of traditional and endemic people using as much vibrancy and color as it takes to capture each of their personalities on my canvases.”
This is Bennett’s fifth visit to MV. He will be offering portrait painting commissions of children, adults, and pets. Students at Maumee Valley will participate in portrait painting workshops with Mr. Bennett.
This month long exhibit will correspond with the issue of 18 postage stamps of Bennett’s World Portraits that have been chosen by the United Nations Postal Administration. This third series of stamps will be showcased Oct. 2012 in NYC of Indigenous Peoples from Asia and around the world. The stamps will be issued in three countries and three languages at the United Nations Headquarters offices in Austria, Switzerland and the U.S.
Stephen Bennett’s portraits are feature on the bottles of Nika Water and will be on display at the exhibit.
