Autumn Is Awesome at the Toledo Zoo

Leaves are falling, but fun is flying high this fall at the Toledo Zoo! No matter what the weather is, the Zoo always has something to make the day special. Visit the Zoo’s website, toledozoo.org, for more information about these and other upcoming events.

Weekdays in October
Senior Discovery Days
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Every weekday, visitors age 60 and up get free coffee and a mini-muffin at the Zoo’s Timberline Bakery, plus (on Tuesdays) free admission and parking in the Anthony Wayne Trail Lot. Exclusive activities and discounts, too.

All through October
Animals at Night preschool-age class
Times vary
Ages 3-4. Special animals come out at night. During this class, discover the special things they do in the dark. Space is limited; pre-registration required.

Saturday, October 6
Predators and Carnivores family class
9 to 11 a.m.

Friday, October 12
Predators and Carnivores family class
5 to 7 p.m.
Ages 5 and up, as part of a family group. Take a guided tour with Education staff before the Zoo opens or after it closes. Space is limited; pre-registration required.

Saturday, October 13
Fall Fur All
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Decorate a pumpkin that’s displayed during Little Boo and Pumpkin Path and then presented to one of the Zoo’s animals during Jumping Pumpkins. Science Day activities in Nature’s Neighborhood, too! Major sponsor: McDonald’s. Pumpkin-decorating sponsor: Giant Eagle. Science Day sponsor: BP-Husky Refining LLC.

Thursday & Friday, October 18 - 19
Little Boo at the Zoo
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Preschoolers love Little Boo at the Zoo, the Halloween happening that’s just for them. Presented on a smaller scale that’s just right for little ones, Little Boo features trick-or-treat stations, games and a giant play area from major sponsor Fisher-Price.

Saturday & Sunday, October 20 - 21
Pumpkin Path
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Frightfully delightful — that’s Pumpkin Path, the area’s favorite family-friendly Halloween destination. Don’t miss trick-or-treat stations, games, magic shows and more fun than you can shake a broomstick at. Major sponsor: Meijer.

Saturday, October 27
MaskZOOrade
7 p.m. to midnight
Gather some ghoulish 21-and-up friends for this after-hours dance party, plus astrology readings, DJ music and Halloween hijinks. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Presenting sponsor: KeyBank.

Saturday & Sunday, October 27 - 28
Jumping Pumpkins
10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Zoo animals discover that the Great Pumpkin has visited their habitats! Will they make a meal — or a mess?

In October, The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The Zoo is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail (US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, please visit toledozoo.org or call 419.385.4040. Lucas County residents are admitted free of charge each Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. ID showing proof of residency is required.
