FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IBC CANCELS AMATEUR BOXING NIGHT FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26

The International Boxing Club (IBC) has been forced to cancel the Amateur Boxing Night scheduled for Friday evening, October 26. Executive Director Harry Cummins received a communication late last night that states that all amateur activities of USA Boxing in the United States are to be immediately suspended for three months. USA Boxing is the IBC’s sanctioning organization.

According to the memo, AIBA, the international federation for boxing, has suspended all sanctioned competitions, boxing club activities, membership registrations and insurance coverage. The reason for the suspension is stated to be in response to an unreported comment made by a member of the USA Boxing Board of Directors that AIBA termed inappropriate and improper.

The IBC will comply with this ruling and cancel the planned Amateur Boxing Night on October 26. E.D. Harry Cummins and Board President Kathy Jex agreed not to suspend the regular program activities for area youths which include educational assistance, tutoring, community service activities, a chess team, and other special interest groups, like photography and community gardening.

The IBC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the young people of the greater Toledo area to overcome their disadvantages and become champions in life. For more information, contact:
