Little Shop of Horrors – Presented by Perrysburg High School
At a time when extra-curricular programs are increasingly threatened by shrinking public school budgets, the city of Perrysburg maintains an unwavering commitment to dramatic arts education. That sustained support is plainly evident in Perrysburg High School’s latest stage production of the Off-Broadway hit Little Shop of Horrors.
Perrysburg High School drama teacher Rob Gentry directs this quirky musical sci-fi comedy, which features a fabulous score built around 60’s rock, doo-wop and Motown style tunes. When (after more than 2200 performances) the show closed in the 1987, it earned the distinction of being the highest-grossing off-Broadway production in history.
On-stage November 8 through November 11, Little Shop Of Horrors tells the story of a lovesick floral assistant, Seymour Krelborn, who harbors a secret crush on his co-worker, the sweet but fashion-challenged Audrey. When Seymour acquires an unusual plant during a solar eclipse, he names it Audrey II in her honor. When Seymour accidentally discovers that Audrey II requires not water and sunshine but human blood to survive, Seymour realizes he has a little bit more than winning Audrey’s heart to worry about.
