Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act-Dec 13
On Thursday, December 13 the Greater Toledo Chapter of the American Payroll Association will host a luncheon meeting featuring Ferdinand Hogroian, Legislative Counsel from the Council on State Taxation. The topic is “Non-Resident Withholding” and will include a detailed update to the activities of the Mobile Coalition Workforce. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED and can be made at www.toledoapa.org
There is an ongoing effort in Washington DC by this committee representing 200+ companies supporting S 3485 / HR 1864 to change the current cumbersome state tax withholding requirements. States are imposing that taxes be withheld on even those business travelers who work in their state one day, three days, etc. This means Payroll Professionals have to set up withholding accounts in states with no nexus. This bill is to change the threshold for these cumbersome and costly reporting requirements nationwide to a standard 30 days. Come to this meeting to learn more and get an update on what this team is doing for our payroll profession, how the recent election has impacted this effort and to find out what you can do to support their momentum. This affects all of us.
