A Home For The Howlidays

The dogs, cats and pocket pets at the Toledo Area Humane Society have been very good this year and they’ve all mailed their letters to Santa asking for the one thing they want the most – a forever home to call their very own.

To help the animals find their forever homes in time for the holidays, Santa’s little helpers at TAHS are reducing adoption prices throughout the shelter through December:
Dogs that have been patiently waiting at the shelter for some time will have their adoption fees reduced to just $25.
All other dogs (over the age of 6 months old) will receive $25 off their adoption fees.
All adult cats will have their adoption fees reduced to just $25
And all kittens will have their adoption fees reduced to $50
Don’t forget the pocket pets - their adoption fees are reduced to $2.50 each!

In return, TAHS is asking that you please bring in a gift from their Wish List when you visit the shelter to adopt. Items like canned dog and cat food, new or gently used blankets and towels, dog and cat treats, non-clumping cat litter, and gas cards for our Cruelty Officers are essential to daily life in the shelter and will allow Santa’s little helpers to care for the animals while they wait for their forever homes. (Donations from the Wish List are greatly appreciated and help off-set the shelter’s reduced adoption fees.)

“Our goal is always to help as many pets as possible find their new forever homes. It becomes even more special around the holidays,” said Dr. Debbie Johnson, Director of Operations at TAHS. “Just because the ASPCA Challenge is over, we haven’t lost the momentum of finding new homes for the animals in our care and we’d love to see the shelter as empty as possible, especially for the holidays.”

Not able to adopt a pet? Why not consider becoming a temporary foster volunteer! While the staff at TAHS would love to have all of the animals find their forever homes in time for the holidays, they want those that are still patiently waiting to at least spend Christmas in a foster home. They won’t know until closer to Christmas exactly which animals will be available for fostering, but they are currently collecting names of people willing to help out. If you’re interested in fostering an animal (or two) for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, please contact the TAHS Foster Coordinator at HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]" [email protected].
