A new component of this year’s drive is the Hygiene Sculpture Contest. Individuals can visit HYPERLINK "http://www.sylvaniafranciscanvillage.org" www.sylvaniafranciscanvillage.org beginning February 4 at noon to view all the sculpture displays made with unwrapped hygiene items and vote for their favorite. The participating teams include Lourdes University and Sylvania Franciscan Village students, and employees of all Sylvania Franciscan Village locations. The winning team’s photo will be displayed at the close of the contest. Contest rules will be listed on the website.
“The Sylvania Franciscan Village is founded on strong community relationships and our belief that working together we can accomplish so much more,” offers Sr. Janet Doyle, OP, SFV Administrator. “We continue to identify ways to use our many resources for the benefit of our community. We chose to collect hygiene items because these are necessities for every household. Most importantly, those low-income families who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are unable to purchase these necessary but non-food items through the program.”
Formally established in 2009, the Sylvania Franciscan Village (SFV) is comprised of Lourdes University, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania and Sylvania Franciscan Health. The SFV was formed to harness energies for the greater good and benefit of those who share the Franciscan mission. Visit www.sylvaniafranciscanvillage.org for more information.
