Lourdes University launches spring Lifelong Learning program
Lifelong Learning is an exciting educational program at Lourdes University, open to men and women of all ages with an interest in ongoing learning! Lifelong Learning participants enjoy classes on a wide variety of academic subjects, special events and informative monthly lectures. In February, Lifelong Learning will launch its spring programming, which features the following activities:
MONTHLY LECTURE SERIES:
3rd Friday of each month, in the Franciscan Center at 10 a.m. Refreshments at 9:15 a.m. Free to members and first-time visitors.
February 15 – “International Law & Globalization”
Learn about core topics of international business practice, the challenges presented by treaty law, and some of the challenges in protecting intellectual property and investments abroad. Presenter Judge Keila Cosme has devoted her professional life to advocating for the rights of working people and their families and is currently working on a degree in International Business Law at Boston University.
March 15 – “Down By the Station Early in the Morning” ?A focus on Toledo's Passenger Trains’ heritage, status in today’s world, and visions for future rail travel. Presenter William Gill is Vice Chair of the Public Transit & Passenger Rail Committee of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) and Regional Coordinator of "All Aboard Ohio" - the Ohio Association of Railroad Passengers.

SPECIAL EVENTS:
March 6 – Fairy Gardens
Create your own Fairy garden featuring container grown plants from Bensell Greenhouse and other fairy accessories such as bridges, rivers, or found objects of your choice. Bensell owner Mary Marchon will lead the class. 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. $25 for members/$35 for non-members. Register by February 27.
April 5 – Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens tour & train trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Tour the home and grounds of the notable Stan Hywet Hall & Garden country estate, which ranks seventh on the list of largest homes in the United States. Tour includes access to the Corbin Conservatory and the Gate House. After lunch, board the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad which is one of the oldest, longest, and most scenic tourist excursion railways in the country to experience the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Depart Lourdes at 7 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. $68 members/ $86 non-members. Includes entrance and tour of Stan Hywet, lunch, and train ride. Register by March 21.
