Come discover why The Arts Commission’s signature spring fundraiser series, The Mix, has been called “Toledo’s best party.” Each year in March a team of committed volunteers takes on The Mix theme, and imagines a new way to convey excitement, fun, creativity and entertainment to our community. The event involves multiple bands and entertainers, interactive activities, catering to reflect the event theme, a silent auction of art work by local artists, all happening in locations specifically chosen to draw attention to Toledo’s underutilized spaces, and the artists who have chosen to build their careers in Downtown Toledo.
This year, The Mix Overboard celebrates Northwest Ohio’s nautical legacy, commemorating the 200-year anniversary of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s legendary victory over the British in the War of 1812 with one of the best parties of the year. Join us in the Historic Commodore Perry Building in Downtown Toledo as you enjoy some of the hippest live music in town, an unparalleled silent art auction, amazing raffle prizes, gourmet food from many of Toledo’s finest restaurants, and an evening of fun, funky attire, specialty cocktails, and dancing all night long. Complimentary parking is provided in the parking garage next to the Commodore Perry, entrance off of Superior St. Don't miss this amazing opportunity to support the arts while sailing the high seas of Toledo’s best party – The Mix Overboard.
MUSIC, FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT
Auction: The involvement of our local artists is a huge part of what makes The Mix Toledo’s best party. The original works of 30 handpicked artists will be featured in The Mix Overboard. Jules Shine Webster, Nicole Brandstrup, and Heather Allred have juried a unique selection of artwork by Toledo’s established and up and coming artists for a terrific show.
Entertainment: The Mix Overboard continues the Arts Commission’s tradition of showcasing eclectic and energetic bands and musicians. Guests will be able to enjoy the diverse entertainment provided by groups like The Dew Droppers, Quick Trio, Kentucky Chrome, Mike Whitty and Clifford Murphy, Ben Cohen Trio, Jesse Carlson, Tim Oehlers and Mike Gramza, and The Blowing Grains. DJs N. Mattimoe and Rob Sample will keep the dance party moving! PhotoBoothLive returns this year to record the fun for all to see.
Programs Raffle: Raffle prizes will include a wine and liquor package, a Toledo dining experience package, a shopping package, an art package, and many more items. Raffle tickets are $10 each, or 3 for $25. There will be 5-7 raffle packages available.
Food: A variety of the Toledo area’s best restaurants and caterers will showcase their talents with a special offering or two. Mancy's Brothers' Catering, Registry Bistro, Cake in a Cup
Event Benefits: Proceeds from The Mix Overboard will benefit the Arts Commission’s programs and activities, including Young Artists at Work (YAAW), Artomatic 419!, Art Walks, Gallery Loops, and the Parkwood Gallery.
