March 20—The BGSU Faculty Artist Series presents Thomas Rosenkranz on piano, playing J.S. Bach’s “Goldberg Variations.” The program begins at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. Free
March 21—The Creative Writing Program Reading Series continues with Distinguished Visiting Writer Eugene Gloria, author of three books of poems. The award-winning writer will discuss the craft of writing at 7:30 p.m. in Prout Chapel. The College of Arts and Sciences, the Creative Writing Program and the Mid-American Review sponsor the series. March 21—The International Film Series features “Da hong deng long gao gao gua” (“Raise the Red Lantern”), a 1991 film by Chinese director Zhang Yimou. When her father dies, a young woman must give up her bright future to become the fourth wife of a wealthy landowner. The powerful lord shines a red lantern in front of the house of the wife he chooses to sleep with that night, and the women compete with one another to get that light outside their home. The film begins at 7:30 p.m. in BGSU’s Gish Film Theater in Hanna Hall. Free
March 21—Guest Artists ADJ-ective New Music will perform at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. The group, composed of seven bassoonists, introduces contemporary music to new audiences through private instruction or event presentations. March 22—BGSU’s Opera Theater presents “The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar. The opening night performance begins at 8 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre of the Wolfe Center for the Arts. March 23—BGSU students from the horn studio will perform for children during the Young People’s Concert: Horns-a-Plenty. March 23—The Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Thesis Exhibition’s opening reception is from 7-9:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Uber Bryan and Willard Wankelman galleries in the Fine Arts Center at BGSU. The exhibit will officially open March 24 and will continue through April 10. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Free

March 26—Tuesdays at the Gish picks back up with the 2007 film “Smiley Face” by director Gregg Araki. Actress Anna Farris plays Jane F. who accidentally eats her scary roommate’s marijuana cupcakes. The plot follows Jane as she attempts to get her life back in order while under the influence. The supporting cast includes John Krasinski, Adam Brody, Jayma Mays and Jane Lynch. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in BGSU’s Gish Film Theater in Hanna Hall. Free
March 26—Trombone and French horn students perform in the Donnell Theatre at the Wolfe Center for the Arts starting at 8 p.m. Free
March 28—The International Film Series presents “Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport.” This 2000 U.K. film got some help from the United States Holocaust Museum to chronicle the story of the kindertransport, which saved the lives of 10,000 Jewish children during the Holocaust. The children, now elderly, recall the memories they have of the horrific events in this Academy Award-winning documentary. It begins at 7:30 p.m. in BGSU’s Gish Film Theater in Hanna Hall. Free
March 28—National Book Award-winning novelist Jaimy Gordon, author of “The Lord of Misrule,” and visiting writer for BGSU’s Creative Writing Program, gives a reading at 7:30 p.m. in Prout Chapel. The series is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Mid-American Review. Free
March 29— Guest Artist and pianist Christopher Fisher performs at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. Free
April 1—Sean Caulfield, the Centennial Professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta, will give a BGSU ARTalk titled “Perceptions of Promise: Biotechnology, Society and Art,” at 6 p.m. in 1101 Fine Arts Center.
April 1— Jazz Week kicks off at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center with a performance by the Chamber Jazz Ensembles. Free
April 2—Voice students of Myra Merritt perform as part of Music at the Manor House at 7:30 p.m. in Wildwood Metropark in Toledo. Free
April 2— Jazz Week continues in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center with a performance by the Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Free
April 3—Legendary South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela performs on the BGSU Festival Series in conjunction with Jazz Week. Masekela is best known for his 1968 Grammy-nominated single “Grazing in the Grass,” which sold over four million copies. His music portrays the experience of living in South Africa, the good and the bad. He is also the co-creator of the Broadway musical “Sarafina.” The concert begins at 8 p.m. in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center. A free Festival Series Forum to learn more about Masekela and his music begins at 7:15 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall at the Moore center.
