20 North Gallery Presents "Derby Days 2013" at Manhattan's
Eight local and regional artists display the best in equine art at uptown restaurant
Toledo, OH—April 12, 2013. 20 North Gallery once again presents the annual “Derby Days” exhibit, now for the third consecutive year at Manhattan’s Restaurant in Uptown Toledo. The exhibition features the best in equine art by eight local and regional artists: Pam Busick, Walter Chapman, Marcin Chumiecki, Scott Heacock, Dianna Lust, Margie Shoop, Robert E. Shorter and Daniel Steck, Jr. Horse-themed artwork in a variety of media, including painting, photography, drawing, and pastel will be displayed.
This year the exhibit opens on Saturday, May 4th, and will run for three weeks, concluding on May 18th, the date of the Preakness Race, run each year at Pimlico Race Track as the second race of the Triple Crown. The annual “Derby Days” exhibit was originated by 20 North Gallery Art Director Emerita, Peggy Brennan Grant, the granddaughter of the late John T. Brennan, first Superintendent of Pimlico Park.
Local artists and the staffs of Manhattan’s and 20 North Gallery will be welcoming friends and collectors at the Opening Reception on Derby Day at Manhattan’s Restaurant, Saturday, May 4th, from 4 - 7p.m. The televised “run for the roses” will be broadcast during the event. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their Derby hats and finest sporting attire to partake of Toledo’s most authentic mint juleps—made from a recipe obtained by Peggy Grant from the late Samuel Riddle, owner of the legendary racehorse Man o’ War. The event has a $5 cover charge; reservations to attend the reception are appreciated, but not required.
