Teen Theatre Auditions Announced in Fremont
Auditions for Fremont Community Teen Theatre’s production of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" will be held on Sunday, May 5th and Monday, May 6th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Applicants must be ages 13 to 19. They are required to prepare 16 bars of a musical theater vocal selection.
"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" is a 1949 Tony Award winning musical slapstick comedy that launched the career of legendary musical comedy icon, Carol Channing and later Marilyn Monroe in the 1953 film adaptation. The classic Jule Styne score features hits such as "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend", "Little Girl From Little Rock" and "Bye Bye Baby". It's based upon the 1925 Jazz Age novel by Anita Loos that was described by Edith Wharton as "the great American novel".
Set in the Roaring Twenties, it follows the madcap adventures of the quintessential red blooded “dumb blonde,” Lorelei Lee from Little Rock, as she sets sail for Europe on the Ile De France with her best friend and chaperone, Dorothy Shaw, seeking to land millionaire husbands.
Fremont Community Theater is located at 1551 Dickinson Street behind Vanguard Vocational School in Fremont, Ohio.
