Catholic Radio expands reach into Mansfield, Lexington areas
Annunciation Radio, the Catholic radio broadcasting group in the Diocese of Toledo, is growing again! Thanks to their recent purchase of WFOT 89.5 FM, full-time Catholic radio now reaches listeners in Mansfield, Lexington and surrounding areas.
This acquisition brings the Annunciation Radio family of stations to a total of three terrestrial (land-based) stations, plus a Spanish-language internet station. Annunciation Radio hopes that local Catholic radio programming will eventually be heard throughout the entire Diocese of Toledo.
“We’re very excited about WFOT,” said Deacon Mike Learned, President and Station Manager of Annunciation Radio. “There are many faithful Catholics in that part of the Diocese that our signal just couldn’t reach before. We’ve received a tremendous amount of support there.”
For now, WFOT 89.5 FM will broadcast the same programming heard on WNOC 89.7 FM and WHRQ 88.1 FM, including Catholic Answers Live, The Doctor is In, Women of Grace, Catholic Connection, and Kresta in the Afternoon, as well as locally-produced programs such as The Bishop’s Corner with Bishop Blair, Understanding Scripture with Fr. Dave, Living Stones and more. But local programming definitely figures into future plans for WFOT. “It’s important that people in the Lexington and Mansfield area have a sense of ownership and community,” Deacon Mike stated.
