Bike Enthusiasts Enjoy New Jump Park

Posted: Friday, August 2, 2013 by: Jen Sorgenfrei | Category: Community Interest

After being rained out of the grand opening event, mountain bike enthusiasts will celebrate the opening of a new jump park from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Jermain Park.

The event will feature open and guided trail rides; jump park demonstrations; vendor displays; music, and an active graffiti mural painting demonstration. Bike helmets are required at all times to participate in the challenges or on trails and jump courses. Participants must provide their own bike and helmet to ride.

The city in July 2010 opened a single track off road bicycle course approximately 2.5 to 3 miles long through Ottawa-Jermain Park with scenic views of the Ottawa River. The trail has beginner to intermediate skill level features and is designed to be a single directional loop intermixed with technical skill areas.

The new jump park will compliment the off-road course and offers progressive stunts for beginner to expert level riders. Clear signage and easy access to parking make the entire course practical for many riders.

The off-road trail and jump park is free to the public.
